The New York clarinettist en alto saxophonist Matt Darriau is best known for his long standing association with the Klezmatics, the band that was partly responsible for the klezmer revival. In addition Darriau leads his own four piece Paradox Trio, in which he focuses on Balkan music in a broader perspective. He also leads the Ellington vamp band Ballin’ the Jack. Darriau’s latest project is a duo with sound artist Katie Down, a multi-instrumentalist from New York, who plays all kinds of glasses. And reedist Darriau takes along his assortment of exotic flutes.
