In the early sixties Maggie Nicols started out on the stage as a dancer. As an improvising vocalist she joined John Stevens' Spontaneous Music Ensemble. Nicols was also involved in the legendary Centipede recordings by pianist Keith Tippett. With Julie Driscoll and Phil Minton she then started the group Voice. In the late seventies she joined forces with bassoonist Lindsay Cooper in the Feminist Improvising Group. Nowadays Maggie Nicols can be heard in Les Diaboliques (with Irene Schweizer and Joëlle Léandre) and recently with Sean Bergin's SongMob. This is a lengthy introduction for a first musical encounter between Nicols and Amsterdam guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen.
