Trio BraamDeJoodeVatcher started in 1990 as a Monk project at the Groningen Jazzmarathon. For the present occasion the threesome has a special guest: Marty Krystall, an unknown pearl from the American West coast. His round tone on tenor is known only to a select group of aficionados, for his long standing association with bassist Buell Neidlinger, who played with Cecil Taylor in his golden early years. Marty Krystall specializes in the music of Herbie Nichols and Thelonious Monk. This will be right up pianist Michiel Braam, bassist Wilbert de Joode and drummer Michael Vatcher's street, as they can adapt to any new musical situation that might come along.
