Michael Riessler / Jean Louis Matinier (D/F)

Michael Riessler – clarinets
Jean Louis Matinier – accordion

Two extremely virtuoso musicians form an exceptional duo. Clarinettist Michael Riessler and Jean-Louis Matinier on accordion met in the ground breaking ensemble Le Bûcher des Silences. After this both their musical careers went on to be very successful. Michael Riessler worked with people as far apart as Mauricio Kagel, Carla Bley and Terry Bozzio. Matinier played with great names like Anouar Brahem and Renaud Garcia-Fons. The thrilling duo's music is a kind of contemporary jazz, influenced by European folk music and French musette. German newspapers wrote that "More exciting music is hard to find " and talked of a "folkloristic hell dance" (in German of course).
