Seven years ago Belgian guitarist Mathias Van de Wiele started Moker in Gent to form a group in which he could experiment with his own compositions as well as with free improvisational forms. Moker is now turning into one of the frontrunners of Flemish new jazz. Their energetic improvisations, fiery up-tempo swing and serene ballads strike a chord internationally. In the Netherlands Bart Maris is best known for his work with Electric Barbarian. With his musical comrades-in-arms he can charge ruthlessly, like a sledgehammer out of the blue.
