We can be proud of Frans Vermeerssen. He temporarily took on Willem Breuker's role in the latter's Kollektief. Before that the saxophonist was active in Noodband, All Ears, The Inflated Tear (Roland Kirk project). He currently plays with Bik Bent Braam and the new band Talking Cows. Together with the pianist Robert Jan Vermeulen he has written material for the quartet that smells of Monk and Mengelberg. On the internet a brilliant little Talking Cows film can be seen in which two farmers explain how beasts can love jazz. The Huizinga family's barn seems an appropriate location to test their statements.
