Ingebrigt Håker Flaten is an in demand bassist. In addition to his position with Atomic and The Thing (which released an album with Neneh Cherry this summer) he is active in the American free jazz scene. Bassist Håker Flaten is a resident of Austin, Texas now, but in this duo he stays closer to home. He recorded the CD ‘Elise’(2008) with the Swedish saxophonist Håkon Kornstad, based on Norwegian folk songs - tunes Ingebrigt’s grandmother used to collect. These top of the bill improvisers take a loose approach to the folkloric material, but with respect for the atmosphere and the history of the ancient compositions. Incidentally Håkon Kornstad was Atomic’s saxophonist from their early years.
