If we are not mistaken, in all 26 years that we’ve been organizing this one day cycling course the Tilburg alto saxophonist Paul van Kemenade has never cycled around the church. In the early years we had to pass up on the Podium Trio (Van Kemenade, trombonist Wolter Wierbos and guitarist Jan Kuiper). Not to mention the many incarnations of Van Kemenade’s own bands, in which he developed into one of the most emotionally charged Dutch altoists. His super band featuring Ray Anderson and Han Bennink hasn’t called at the Groningen jazz classic either. So we think the duo Paul van Kemenade / Stevko Busch at the Waarhuis on the Aduarderzijl dyke is long overdue.
