S!LHaRMOnICS
Workshop band The S!lharmonics has its roots in Stichting Improvisatie Leeuwarden, rehearses in Drachten and features a number of musicians from Groningen. A number of different workshop leaders like Jan Cees Tans, Paul Stocker and Frans Vermeerssen have been at the helm of the enterprise, but since 2007 Gerard Ammerlaan is its captain. With Gerard the focus has been on collective improvisation and dynamics. Of course the band also plays some of Ammerlaan's compositions. It sounds like: 'One moment you're on the beach, basking in the sunshine, and the next moment you're swept away for a riotous intergalactic trip'.
