John Coltrane lovers, please pay attention! But fans of Pharoah Sanders or Archie Shepp should also keep a keen ear. Thomas Borgmann from Berlin is a tenor saxophonist with a seriously big sound. The American magazine Jazzis even compared him to Sun Ra saxophonist John Gilmore. His horn style is indeed reminiscent of the legendary men who shaped free jazz in the 1960s. Borgmann worked with Peter Brötzmann in Ruf der Heimat and released five trio albums with the Americans Wilber Morris and Denis Charles. Borgmann now concentrates on Boombox. Yet another great tenor trio.
