DeLIUS

BOOKLeT

Global citizen Tobias Delius (1964, Oxford, UK) came to Amsterdam by way of the German Ruhrgebiet and Mexico City, but has since relocated to Berlin. In addition to the ICP Orchestra and his successful Delius 4tet (with Tristan Honsinger, Joe Williamson and Han Bennink) the impassioned saxophonist Delius is active in Booklet, a trio featuring the Canadian bassist Joe Williamson and drummer Steve Heather from Australia. Booklet is named after Tobias' small book, full of favourite compositions (by Herbie Nichols, Louis Armstrong, Louis Moholo, Misha Mengelberg, Kachamba and Jimi Hendrix, to name but a few). The three use these pieces as a starting point for improvisations: 'never knowing when they'll come nor when they'll leave…'
